In 2020, T&H set out to refurbish Brisbane’s well known home to Cricket and AFL; affectionately known as the Gabba. The renovations to the Gabba Stadium in Woolloongabba were project managed by BESIX Watpac, and were designed by renowned architects ‘Populous’ for Stadiums Queensland and FSDA.  This project consisted of three new bar, kitchen and servery spaces throughout the concourse of the stadium. The $35M upgrades to the stadium were imperative to modernise the precinct, as well as improve the atmosphere and experience for the users.

Populous Architect Brayden Goodwin said, “the main aim of the refurbishment was to improve the fan experience… New destination bars and a significant refurbishment of the media, operations and corporate facilities are also underway.”

Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann said the team was looking forward to the enhanced match day experience that members and fans would receive as a result of the upgrades. He also noted, “the Gabba is already one of the best grounds in the country for viewing and atmosphere, and these upgrades ensure it remains in that top tier of stadiums in the country.”
